I am a U.K.-born Japanese-English translator/native checker currently resident in central England. After studying linguistics at university, I started my professional life as a journalist and writer. My experience as a writer gave me the skills I would later need as a proofreader and checker, such as close attention to detail and the ability to edit documents written on a wide range of subjects. I later moved to Japan, where I studied Japanese while working as an English teacher. In combination with my university degree in linguistics, my studies of Japanese provided me with the skills I needed to work in the translation industry.
For the last nine years, I have been work solely on Japanese-English translation and proofreading. My specialist areas of work include marketing, PR and business-related documents (which is related to my previous experience as a writer). I am capable of accurately cross-checking documents that have been translated from Japanese into English in order to improve the flow and naturalness of the text.
