We use Tau Translation for the translation of technical documents, business contracts, and press release drafts. Besides competitive pricing, I think their appeal is that they offer different options depending on the degree of importance of the document, including additional proofreading by native editors. Furthermore, ordinary TSPs often translate technical documents in a word-for-word manner, ending up with a group of awkward Japanese sentences. However, Tau's Japanese translations are natural, fluent, and comprehensible even in the case of complex texts. We also find their quick responses and short turnarounds advantageous. Every time I contact them, their response is very quick, which helps us to decide schedules with confidence. In some cases, the turnaround time they proposed was faster than other TSPs by a considerable margin, which is really helpful, particularly when we have little time. Our translation requirements involve content that is hard to understand with IT knowledge alone, including materials for engineers and catalogs. Also, the original English documents are written by non-native English speakers in Taiwan and contain some unnatural expressions. Finally, I can have a true Japanese translation!
After I received a free trial translation from Tau, I almost shouted, “Now I got true Japanese translations!” Before I encountered Tau, I was never satisfied with Japanese translations provided by our registered TSPs, since they always deliver accurate but really awkward Japanese translations, which I feel are inadequate for gaining trust from our Japanese customers through press releases. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to directly deal with Tau Translation due to a central purchasing policy enforced after our company's merger, but I have managed to use their translation services through our registered vendor for the Japanese translation of important customer communication documents.
